Day 1: Pick from Kigali International Airport to Gisenyi
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport , you will be welcomed by the Safari guide of Climbing Nyiragongo, you will start on the drive to gisenyi with various stop over and if time allows a visit to the genocide memorials is recommended and later proceed to gisenyi where you will go for boat cruise on Lake Kivu for 1 hour and later cross the border to Goma the biggest city in Eastern province of Congo.
Key things to see on Boat cruise include fishing villages , see the mountain landscape in a distance, birds, interact with different communities and have have lunch as well. Dinner and accommodation from Goma
After breakfast off to park headquarters ( Kibati Station)for briefing and registration of your nyiragongo trekking permit , selection of the porters and other helpers to enable you start the adventure on Mount Nyiragongo.
After the formalities , you will start to hike the adventurous remaining most active and violent volcanoes on Africa and the whole world.
Note. Your advised to hire a porter to help you carry your Mikeno package which Climbing Nyiragongo always includes in the offer at 100$ that includes your lunch. Meals are prepares by the park team but however you can also carry your food if you wish too. Nyiragongo Hiking to summit takes around 5-6hours and we advice one to be physically fit before climbing the mountain.
You will have overnight at summit cabins which has amazing active volcanoes in Africa.
At the cabins, there are beds, with bed sheets and blankets though you can carry your own sleeping bag.
Day 3: Descending to the bottom
Have your breakfast at the summit and descending from the active volcanoes to the bottom where you find the driver waiting for you, he will transfer you to Goma town for city tour and lunch before proceeding to cross the border to connect to Kigali for your flight back home.
