2 Days Nyiragongo Volcano Trekking  & Climbing in Virunga national Park with experts in Africa Mountaineering tours offering group and private luxury trips to Congo. This 2 days is available for early booking and last minute trips to Virunga National park.

Day 1:Transfer to Mount Nyiragongo, and summit ascend

The company safari guide  will pick you up from Gisenyi in Rwanda or Goma town in Congo and take you to the gathering point in Kibati station . On arrival, you will be registered and given the Nyiragongo permit which is the gateway to climb Mount Nyiragongo. You can hire a personal porter costing between 10 to 15 US Dollars in cash and if you wish to secure a porter to summit you during the entire trip , it goes for 600$.

After the briefing, you will head out to the mountain slopes along with your personal porter and those carrying supplies (water, food that is always known as Mikeno Package  that is always charged separately on your Mount Nyiragongo Trek with Climbing Nyiragongo etc.).

Climbing to the top of the volcano takes between 3 to 6 hours depending on how fit and fast the team is.  By 5 pm, you should have reached the summit.

Lunch will be served en route on one of the favorite stopping or relaxing points on Mount Nyiragongo volcano.

At the summit, you will be shown your room from among the cabins. The cabins are built on a rim just above the lava lake. It has a bed, mattress and warm bed sheets but  you bring your own sleeping bag.

The Virunga Foundations Guides will take you to a safe spot to see the boiling magma for as long as you wish and you will know the special feel when your at Mount Nyiragongo lava lake.

Day 2: descending and departure

After early morning break fast that is served in the cabins , you will enjoy the last moment watching of the world's lava lake and you will start to descend . Descending is much easier and takes a shorter time (2 to 3 hours). After your breakfast, you will begin your descend. As you climb down the mountain, take time to admire the vegetation, lava soils and amazing Virunga volcanoes in the horizon.

Once you reach the beginning point ( kibati station ), your guide will be ready to transfer you to your next destination which will depend on the agreement at the time of booking ( Gisenyi or Kigali ).
