BEST TIME TO VISIST THE PARK
Gorilla Trekking: Gorilla trekking is the primary activity in Bwindi, and the weather conditions can affect the experience. The dry seasons, which are generally from June to August and December to February, are often considered the best time for gorilla trekking. During these months, the trails are usually less muddy and easier to navigate. However, gorilla trekking is possible year-round, and some people prefer visiting during the wetter months for a lusher and greener environment.
Weather and Climate: Bwindi National Park experiences a tropical rainforest climate, with generally consistent temperatures throughout the year. Daytime temperatures average around 23-25°C (73-77°F). The wet seasons are from March to May and from September to November, with rainfall being more frequent during these months. The dry seasons offer clearer skies and less rainfall.
Birdwatching: Bwindi is a haven for bird enthusiasts, and different bird species may be more active during specific times of the year. The wetter months, particularly from March to May and September to November, are generally considered better for birdwatching, as the birds are more active and vocal during this time. Migrant bird species are often present from November to April.

The high season, which includes the dry months and certain holiday periods, tends to be more popular, and permits may be in higher demand. HOW TO GET THERE
International Flights: If you are coming from outside Uganda, you will most likely arrive at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), located near the capital city, Kampala. Several international airlines operate flights to Entebbe from major cities around the world.
Domestic Flights: From Entebbe, you can take a domestic flight to Kihihi Airstrip or Kisoro Airstrip, which are the closest airports to Bwindi National Park. Domestic airlines such as Aero link Uganda and Fly Uganda operate regular flights to these airstrips. The flight duration is approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
Road Transportation: Another option is to travel by road from Kampala or Entebbe to Bwindi National Park. The road journey takes around 8-10 hours, depending on the specific route and road conditions. It’s advisable to hire a private vehicle or use the services of a reliable tour operator for this journey.
Public Transportation: Public buses and shared taxis (matatus) are available from Kampala or Entebbe to various towns near Bwindi, such as Kabale or Kisoro. From these towns, you can arrange local transportation, such as private taxis or boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis), to reach the park entrance or your accommodation.
Gorilla Trekking Sectors: Bwindi National Park has several sectors, each with its own entrance point. Depending on the gorilla families you wish to visit, you may need to plan your transportation accordingly to reach the appropriate sector. The popular sectors include Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo.
